ICC Test Ranking: Australia on top, India slip to 3rd

ICC Test Ranking:

India has slipped down to 3rd position in ICC Test Ranking after 2016-17 season was removed from the annual ICC ranking as per the rule.

In that season, Indian national cricket team played wonderfully which resulted in them topping the ICC Rankings of Test format.

Indian team claimed the top position in Test Ranking in the month of October 2016. Since then they have been at the top of pile and entered the ICC Test Championship.

Top 9 teams in the Test Ranking were eligible to participate in the ICC Test Championship which started in 2019.

ICC released a statement that India lost the first due their amazing 2016-17 season record was removed from the latest ranking as per the rule. Indian won 12 Test matches that season and lost only 1.

In 2016-17 season, India played five test series and won all of them which also includes the series again England national team and Australia national team.

Australia now has 116 points and they sit at the top of the table but it’s gonna be easy for them to defend as the gap to New Zealand is just 1 point.

India now have slipped down to 3rd rank but again the gap is not that big. India is just 2 points behind Australia with 114 points and 1 point behind New Zealand who have 115 points.

This a very case that top 3 teams are only separated by only 2 points. In January 2016, India was leading Australia and South Africa by just 1 point.
