When will Indian football season begin ? When will the transfer window start ? We have finally got the answer.
The coronavirus pandemic has caused a lot of issues to start Indian football season, the nation is under lockdown phase now which means starting the season at it’s scheduled time is not possible.
AIFF ANNOUNCE INDIAN FOOTBALL SEASON AND TRANSFER WINDOW DATE
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced on 9th June, Tuesday that after a board meeting, they have decided that the Indian football season will start from August 1st, and will end on May 31st.
An AIFF circular to all member associations read, “we are pleased to inform you that the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has approved the amendment in All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) season dates and registration period (transfer window) for 2020-21.”
The first phase of the player registration, also known as the summer transfer window will begin from August 1st, and it will remain open till October 20.
The second phase, also known as the winter transfer window will begin from as scheduled before. The winter transfer window will start from January 1st and will close on January 31st.
The Indian Super League season 7 is likely to start from November as the board feels that by that time country will be in much better condition.
Last Indian football season Kolkata based ATK won the top tier league, the Indian Super League. While another Kolkata team Mohun Bagan won the I-League after every team agreed to crown Mohun Bagan I-League champions as the league was suspended due to coronavirus outbreak.
With the fans are expected to be allowed from next year, the half of the Indian football season is likely to be played behind closed doors. It will be interesting to see what are other changes we will see this season.
